It’s Mother’s Day weekend, and if you are a mom, I hope you are feeling especially appreciated and loved as Sunday arrives.
I can tell you, right at this moment, I am feeling loved. My husband has graciously stepped in as host to our out of town guests, while I hide in my makeshift office and try to recharge my batteries. We have reservations for brunch tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to having the kitchen closed for the day. I have no idea what we’ll do for dinner once everyone is hungry again, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. The cousins are all watching “Frozen,” and I’ve got the song “Let it Go,” stuck in my head. I will not worry tonight about tomorrow’s hungry bellies.
I will, however, reflect on how blessed I am to be celebrating this holiday with three other moms: my mom, my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law. I almost let the craziness of the week and the accompanying stress get the better of me and my attitude this week, but God repeatedly reminded me that “He’s got this.” I know I am one lucky girl to be surrounded by so much family, even as my introverted self is currently craving solitude and quiet. Tomorrow I will enjoy their company, enjoy the chatter of the dads and kids and enjoy the gift of motherhood.
